I have had many experiences since I moved here. I have met many people from difference countries and different languages. I have tried to understand the culture and follow it. I have confused about traffic because people drive cars on the left. I always go the wrong way to the driver’s position and my husband asks me, “Do you want to drive a car?".....

I have seen a policeman pull over cars all the time on the roads. I was astonished and wondered why they did that if they knew about traffic law.

I have had two parrots at home and I have always tried to be friendly with them. One is a very good parrot, but another one is very unfriendly. I don’t know why, even though I have given foods and talk to him with very polite words and anything I could think of. Nothing worked.

Finally, I have put my hands like to hit him when he wanted to bite me, at the same time I yelled at him also then he stopped.

However the parrot has still bitten me sometimes. I asked my husband about this parrot and he said that his parrot had a bad attitude and wanted to bite everyone.

Everyday this parrot is screaming with a very loud noise, I think if he can talk he will say a bad vocabulary also.

I have had many new experiences since I came here. I have gone some special places in NewYork for the first time in my life.
When I went to the NewYork public library the first time, I was very surprised, because the interior was classical and it looked like a scene of a movie.

I have taken the subway a lot. The NewYork subway works for 24 hours so it’s very useful. And every month, I have bought a metro card that is unlimited for 30 days. So I need it when I sight see.

But in addition, I had a really extraordinary experience. One month ago, I met my friends in Manhattan. Around midnight, I should come back home, because it was too late. So I went to a subway station, and then I waited for my train.
I took a train and after that waited a long time. But I had to transfer trains once. So I was waiting for a train again. I had to take a local train, but only the express train came there. After I waited about an hour, I started feeling worried. Moreover I couldn’t understand the announcement. So I asked a person who worked in the metro. He said, ”Express trains changed to local ones now.”

After 20 minutes, E line train which is always express came the station. I have not taken the E train, so I worried about that. I decided that I asked again.
I asked, “Today didn’t express trains work?”
He said, “ Where did you go?”
I answered. “I wanted to go Grand Ave. station.”
Just that he said, “You could take this.”
I could feel relieved and I came back my home.
When I came home, it was at 2:30 in the morning.
The day was very tired and scary for me.
I am embarrassed on weekend and late night about that NewYork subways are very often change the schedule.

I have had many new experiences since I came here. I have visited many places in Manhattan. Especially I was interested in shopping at a store related to my major, management. It was inspiring for me to see the display of plenty of products. There were diverting items in detail in each part.

I have met a lot of people and have some new friends. During the summer, there were lots of public events in New York city. At the time, I participated in many events and I enjoyed experiencing other culture and meeting people. It was interesting to live in New York.

In addition, I had a really extra experience two weeks ago. I met a policeman in the Dunkin Donut near my house. I went there to buy some donuts alone. I wanted to eat right away. But a table was not cleaned for everyone. I cleaned the table a little bit. At that time, a policeman came into the store. Suddenly he asked me some questions. But I could not understand well. I was nervous because I thought NY policeman was scary for me and other people. Moreover, I did not want to meet them. But I wondered what he said to me. I tried to get him to ask his questions again. Fortunately, he told me his questions kindly step by step. In this chance, we talked together for half an hour. This time was his break time for lunch. For the first time, I felt scared but I could change my mind. I felt comfortable kindness rather than danger. We had a good time. At the end of the talking, we exchanged our email addresses. I often have sent him email. I could make an American friend. It was interesting and surprising to have good experience.

My experience of New York

I have had many new experiences since I came here. I have tried some foods for the first time in my life. When I was in my country, I’d often eaten Chinese food. But in New York, there are many Chinese restaurants and a lot of kinds of foods. So I’ve been surprised. I’ve tried to eat many Chinese foods.

Moreover, I have met many new people and have had some new friends. I have visited some interesting places. I have gone to the statue of liberty by a ship. I have walked on the Brooklyn Bridge.

When I came here on the first day, I felt a difference between the U.S and Korea. When I entered the Manhattan mall, someone was waiting for me holding open the door. I thought and said that I thanked him. I thought that he was very kind. But after a few days I knew that it was American’s culture. In Korea, many people are usually busy, and they aren’t concerned about other people. They just pass by not holding open the door some places.


I didn’t feel a culture shock, just felt a difference between two countries. I think that we have to learn good things about other countries’ cultures. Also we have to teach our good culture for other people.

My Experiences, Sirikanya

I have had a few experiences since I live in New York. I have had to adapt to my lifestyle because everything in New York is different. I have gone to school and some days I have worked in a Thai restaurant.

I have made new friend in the classroom that come from other countries and the cultures are different. So I have learned about them, how to study together and have fun and be happy with one another. As for the restaurant, I never had worked in restaurant before I moved here. At first, It was very hard for me. I have learned the behavior of the customers, how to make them pleased with us because if they favor us that means I can get more tips.

But in addition, I have had special experiences that I never have met before. I have learned about temperament and manner of customers. Almost customers were very nice, kind and friendly but the rest of them were impolite. Finally, they made me have fun and feel happy.

Trust is not possible in all cases

I have had many experiences since I move to New York. I have visited many interesting places and eaten many kinds of foods. I have eaten Japanese, Korea, Turkish, Mexican, Indian, and Chinese food. I enjoyed all of them. However, Thai food was the best one for me.
I have gone to many restaurants. I have seen many problems and many ways to solve them. I had never thought that I would have to face that because I didn’t to work in any restaurant. Finally the time I had never dreamed come true. I had to help my best friend to take care of her family restaurant.
But in addition, I had a really extraordinary experience. Last week I was going to help my friend. When I was talking and taking the order on the phone, a big group of the customers were walking out after they finished eating. The waitress was going to check the money. She came back to the cashier and found that the customer had crossed out one of the dishes and corrected the amount. They didn’t pay the dish that came out very late and they left before we knew the situation. My friend’s aunt was very upset because nobody had done this before. She had never found this problem. I learned that I couldn’t trust people from their face and appearance.

It has been almost 4 weeks since I moved to New York. I have met a
lot of new and old friends of mine. I have gone to a lot of places , especially
Shopping places. I have seen a lot of new things. Yesterday, I went to Union
Square. I have thought it a good place for shopping. I have gone to China
Town , and while I was walking nobody spoke English with me. Then I
thought , New York is the place with a lot of kinds of people who came from
around the world.
My neighborhood has a lot of people who came from Asia , For
example , Thailand , Korea , Japan , China and India. I have walked around
my neighborhood . I have found a lot of Asian supermarkets and restaurants.
Two days ago I was sitting in a park and I felt like I was in Hong Kong. I’m
thinking to myself, what am I doing here?

I have had many new experiences since I moved here .I have met many foreigners from around the world. I have tried American beer, Budweiser, but I don’t like it. I have tried Korean food, It was quite delicious. I have seen people walk so fast that I couldn’t follow them.
I have visited some interesting places. I have gone to art museum, Moma in manhattan, P.S.1 contemporary in Queen. I had never seen many kinds of art like this before. I have had some foreigner friend. I have taken a lot of metros. I have learns about looking for a job by walk in.
In additional, I had a really extraordinary experience, It was three weeks ago, when I visited Bear Mountain. My friends had driven about 1 hour from Queen. The weather was quite nice , sunshine, a bit wind , so I decided to do some activity . I rowed the boat there. It was the first time in my life. At first, I thought it was very easy ,even nitwit could do it. In contrast, It was so difficult. I tried to control the boat moving forward but boat was never in my control. It ran in circles, sometime clockwise, sometime counterclockwise. My friend laughed at me and yelled “it’s easy for engineer, isn’t it ?” After figured out many theory of mechanic for an half-hour boat was still the same situation, eventually, I lost my patience so I decide to give up and also asked for some help from staff. It was very trying day ,and nothing happened. Moreover, I didn’t see any bear or animals there. I mentioned that sometime everything in the world is not easy and do not expect the name of place, Bear Mountain without any Bear.

I have had many new experiences since I moved here. I have watched movies in New York. I haven’t understood correctly. Yesterday, I watched a movie and I though it was very funny and understood a little bit.

I have met a lot of new people and have some new friends. I have never had friends from other county before. We have met in school, and hung out when we have had time. Also we have watched movies. We have had a good time watching movies because we have improved skills in listening and speaking.

But in addition, I had a really extraordinary experience. I watched a movie on TV. The people spoke Briticisms English. At that time, I needed more concentration.

I have had many experiences and a little bit of problems since I moved here. I have tried some foods for the first time in my life. I have eaten some breads, but I don’t like them too much. Last week, I tried Vietnamese food for the first time and thought it was delicious. But, it is not right for me.

I have met a lot of new people and have some new friends here. I have seen some behaviors I have never seen before, for instance, many fat girls in New York who wear tight shirts, blouses or something like that everyday. I think that it is not relaxing for them. But, they think that if they are dressed like that, it is so good-looking or in style for them.

I have visited some interesting places. I have gone to Borough of Coney Island, which is located in the Brooklyn. It is such a beach. I have played with my friends on the sand for a while and have walked with my friends along the beach. But I haven’t gotten to swim in the water. I have even gone to the playground which is located near the beach. It is such a nice one as well.

Another one that I have visited in New York is Time square. I like that place very much. Most of the people have a wish that if they arrived as a tourist to New York, they want to go there. It is located in the Borough of Manhattan. In that place, I have seen many shops and I have even gone shopping to most o the shopping malls, such as Macy’s, the Gap, Manhattan Shopping Mall, etc. That night view at that place is so cool and beautiful. However, I have gotten a little bit disturbed by how noisy it is because of the car horns and people’s shouting. No matter what was happening at that place, I liked that place. If I got a chance to go there, I hope I will go there again.
And then I have learned about looking for a part-time job. I have had job interview. I have gone to job fairs. I have seen used the Internet for my job search. Last week, I went to meet and owner of a restaurant. Unfortunately, we couldn’t adjust the time because I am a student. In any case, I got many advantages from moving here. I got many experiences and knowledge. Thus, I appreciated that.

I HAVE HAD MANY NEW EXPERIENCES SINCE I MOVED HERE. I HAVE TRIED MANY TYPES OF FOODFOR THE FIRSTTIME IN MY LYFE. I HAVE MET A LOT OF PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. I HAVE DONE DIFFERENT TYPES OF JOBS SINCE I CAME HERE.ONE OF MY FIRST JOBS WAS WHEN I HAD BEEN IN NEW YORK SIX MONTHS AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS CALLED ME AND ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO WORK IN A SMALL. HE SAID THAT I WOULD MAKE GOOD MONEY BUT HE DIDN’T MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT HOW MANY HOURS I HAD TO WORK. HOWEVER, I WENT THERE.
I SHOWED UP A LITTLE BIT EARLY ON THE FIRST DAY BECAUSE THEY HAD TO SHOW ME WHAT I WOULD DO THERE. THE TIME CAME. IT WAS NINE O CLOC IN THE MORNING.I BEGAN A NEW DAY IN A NEW JOB. I HAD TO CLAEN DISHES AND COOK AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER EIGHT HOURS I ASKED THE MANAGER HOW MANY HOURS I HAD TO WORK BECAUSE I HAD FORGOTTEN TO ASK IN THE MORNING. HE TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO STAY UNTIL THE RESTAURANT CLOSED. IT WAS A BIG SURPRISE FOR ME BECAUSE I HAD TO WORK FOR SIXTEEN HOURS A DAY OR MAYBE FOURTEEN BUT IT STIIL WAS A LOT OF HOURS FOR ME. ANYWAY, I ENDED UP WORKING THERE FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEND MONEY TO MY FAMILY.

I have had some different experiences in New York. I have seen different kinds of transportation like trains, express, modern buses, etc. I have eaten good Mexican food, but sometimes I don’t like because it is so much food for me.
I have gotten many restaurants in New York, such as Japanese, Colombian, Greek, Peruvian and American Restaurants. Actually, I recognize that New York is the world’s Capital, because I not only have known many things about North American people, but I also have learned from Asian, European and African people.
In addition, I had a really extraordinary experience. It was one month ago, when my family and I traveled to Puerto Rico. The airplane company was Jet Blue, so the taxi carried us to the “gate” that he thought was correct, but it was not the correct one, because to travel to Puerto Rico, we had to go to another exit. It was very terrible, because JFK airport was very big and we had many bags and the correct exit was very away from that place. I didn’t realize, couldn’t imagine how big the airport was.
Finally, we took a special (and slow) train and we could find the correct exit. There were many “hours” (not really) of confusion and lost time. My aunt and my uncle were very angry. I had not known an airport like that. It was very extraordinary and it could become a big problem. Now, I know that I must be carefully with my next trip.

Many new experience since I lived in New York. I came to NY

In Sep, 2004 that I frist time I visited the U.S.
I thought that Americans were very fat and

if I couldn't speak English,

they would be upset to me. But they didn't do so

and were much more kindly.

I was homesick after I arrived at JFK airport,

so I wanted to return to my country

as soon as I was able to so.

It was culture shock. For exmples, I needed a bottle of water while

walking on the street and idin't know where I could get it.

I saw a supermaket at the corner.

I went into the store to buy water. I found a bottle of water

inside the refrigerator and I went to the cashier. Its price was 1$ and

I had only 1$, but it was over priced,almost 1.20$

when I saw that, I started up in surprise.

I said, "why it does cost over 1$?

It just figures out 1$ there." And the cashier said, "including sales tax."

sales tax? what does that mean?

I learned about the United State economic system and sales tax,

because in my country

most tax is included, so, we don't know about how much the tax costs.

After that day I prepared to get more money to buy something since

I experienced that situation. This is very omprotant to me.

I will go to New Hampshire for shopping because there is no sales tax.

New life

New life
My special day in the past was June 21st when I came here to America. I was very excited and wanted to see this country. However, I felt terrible when it took so many hours on the plane. Anyway everything went well and I arrived safety.
My fiancé picked me up from the airport and took me to his house and we were very happy to see each other.
And another day that I was very happy and was really my special day was my marriage day. We went to Miami Beach, Florida and we were married there on July 9th. We stayed there for two weeks and then we came back to New York. I took some pictures of the view and everywhere I went. I went to the beach but it wasn’t so good because there were too many rocks and it was too difficult to swim.
We came back to New York and stayed for two weeks and then we went back to Miami Beach again. It took us two hours and a haft by plane to go there.
The second time, we went to Key West and stayed there two nights. It took three hours by car. It was alright to stay there for holiday but I wouldn’t live there because there’s nothing to do.
We had a very good time together and I love America.

My special day.

I came to New York 3 months ago. For the first time, I took an airplane for a long time. It was exciting for me to go to another country. I took an airplane for 12 hours alone. It also was interesting to think of New York life by myself.
When the airplane departed the airport, I felt that I was like a bird. I could see my country land and some white clouds. I was very happy and delighted. At that time, I made my promises by myself. That I could go to New York was a very important opportunity and valuable time for me because I had objectives of studying English and learning many things here. During some hours, I thought about everything surrounding me ; my future, my plans, family, school, New York and so on.
Suddenly I was worried about staying New York city. I did not know New York and the U.S.A. And I had many things to do, but I did not have enough time to stay here. Many people said to me that 6 months was not enough time to study English. At least one year is enough for me. I thought so that I did not concur with this opinion. Anyway I had a little worry.
For 12 hours in the airplane, I thought many things by myself for the first time. In the past, I did not have a lot of time to think about my past and future. I just lived holding time of the present. I just thought not with a narrow mind but in my small world.
At last, I realized that the world is very broad and I have to do many things. It was inspiring for me to live in the world. It was a special day as happy as my birthday. I did not forget the 12 hours of thinking by myself in the airplane.

MY SPECIAL DAY

WELL A SPECIAL DAY IN MY PAST WAS WHEN MY BROTHER CAME TO THIS COUNTRY I CAN’T REMENBER WHAT DAY IT WAS. BUT IT WAS REALLY SPECIAL FOR ME BECAUSE THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I SAW MY BROTHER IN FIVE YEARS.WHEN I SAW HIM I FELT SO HAPPY. THE FIRST THING THAT I DID WHEN I SAW HIM WAS GIVE HIM A HOOK AND THEN BRING HIM TO MY HOUSE AND INTRODUCED HIM TO MY ROOMATES AND LET KNOW THATHE WAS MY BROTHER AND WAS GOING TO LIVE WITH US.AFTER THAT DAY MY LIFE CHAGE BECAUSE I KNEW THAT I HAD MY BROTHER AT MY SIDE, JUST LIKE IT USED TO BE IN MY COUNTRY, WHEN WE WERE KIDS AND WE USED TO GO EVERYWHERE TOGETTHER, AND DID MANY THINGS THAT MADE US HAPPY. THAT IS ONE OF MY SPECIAL DAYS BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I SAW ONE PART OF MY FAMILY IN FIVE YEARS.

ANOTHER SPECIAL DAY WAS WHEN I MET MY GIRL FRIEND THE FIRS TIME. IT WAS KIND OF FUNNY THE WAY WE METAND THE WAY WE STARTED OUR RELATIONSHIP. A THIS HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO, EXATLY ON NEW YEAR DAY WHERE I WORK.
THAT DAY I STARTED TO WORK AT FIVE O CLOC IN THA AVENING. I WAS WORKING AS A FOOD RUNNER IN A RESTAURANT, GOT BUSY, AND CRAZY FOR TWO HOURS.AFTER THAT I DECIDED TO DRINK A LITTLE BIT, BUT I ENDED UN GETTING DRUNK. THE RESTAURANTHAD TWO FLOORS AND MY GIRLFRIEND WAS WORKING ON THE FIRST FLOOR AS A HOSTESS.
HERE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED I CAME FROM THE SECOND FLOOR TO THE FIRST FLOOR A LITTLE BIT DRUNK AND SHE WAS STANDING AT THE FROM OF THE RESTAURANT, AND I ATARTED TO TALK WITH HER, WE HAD A LONG CONVERSATION BY THE END OF THE NIGHT WE DICEDED TO GO OUT AFTER WORK AND BEGAN TO KNOW MORE OF EACH OTHER. AND THAT’S HOW OUR RELATIONSHIP STARTED. THAT’S WHY IT’S A SPECIAL DAY FOR ME BECAUSE AFTER THAT NIGHT I MET SOMEBODY SPECIAL, THAT HAS MAKE ME HAPPY UNTIL NOW.

Title: A Story about a special day in my past.


I would like to tell about a short trip where I went to the statue of Liberty yesterday. I went there with my friends at around 9am. First, I started leaving my house at 8.30am. I took a ride on the subway from Elmhurst Avenue. I arrived at the White Hall Street station around 10am.
I took a ride on a water taxi to go to the statue of Liberty. This is such a nice place. I got some pleasure from visiting it. I took many photos there and walked around the statue of Liberty. And then I looked at the Liberty shop where the gift were sold. I ate some potato chips and fried chicken for my lunch at the restaurant. I got back to New York at around 2pm. The view from the statue of Liberty is so nice. I could see the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the buildings of Manhattan from the statue of Liberty. I like that place so much.
However, I got a sad thing there. I lost my cell phone in the rest room of the restaurant. But I didn’t know that my cell phone was left at there. I went to the rest room when I got back to New York. After visiting the rest room, I went on the water taxi in a hurry. When I got on the water taxi, I realized that I didn’t have my cell phone in my bag. Unfortunately, the water taxi started leaving from the Liberty harbor. However, I didn’t get to realize something that I got to go back to the Liberty island for the second time and looked for my property in the rest room. I think that yesterday was on the unlucky day for me. I didn’t get anything back. I couldn’t afford anything and went back to New York.
I got a little bit of depression for that. But one thing came into my brain as knowledge. That is knowledge that I am going to take out of somewhere, which I will check back at that place. I always have an alert mind and something like that. I got it. Therefore, this trip gave me pleasure, sadness and knowledge. Thus, I am sure I appreciated it.

My Topic: First time when I felt despair

When I entered college. I felt despair first time. Everything is different to high-school. In high-school only study is emphasized to all of student. In The Korea, everybody said to me,” if you want to better life in future, just study”, and I did like that. When I was high- school student. I needed to only study. But after entered college I felt so many thing. I needed meaning of life. I had to find. I had a strongest desire about meaning of my life. In high school, even I had no time to sleep. But in college , I had had a many time to think about that.

I was a lonely. I was a annoying. Everything in our society indirect something like pyramid. When I was middle school student. People said to me, if you are going to good high school. Your life will be great and wealthy also you can find whatever you want. And I did like that. but, nothing is change. There is a same thing also in high school. Wherever and whenever I was, I heard, just do Study. Of course study is very good. But at that time I need meaning. In the college everybody mentioned how can get a good job. Not now, but at that time, I was totally disappoint about everything. I thought if I do something very hard, I will find what I want THE MEANNING.

I had no friend. Annoying what I found to meaning is less painful than loneliness. In Korea, we have a great holyday –chu-suk it is similar with easter day in U.S.A. In chu-suk, everybody in Korea come back their hometown. But I did not come back .I did not want to see anyone. In the night in first of chsuk. I felt great emptiness in my life.
In fact. The all people who live in building came back their home town except me.
Everything was so quite. When I bought something outside and came back building. I can saw my room light was only turned on. It was totally darkness in whole building and room. My soul was so depressed

Adventure in Grand Canyon


My first time in United State of America was when I was a student in the university. I came to the USA to participate in the exchange program in summer. I worked as a housekeeper in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. It wasn’t a good job for me but I learned a lot at that time. My jobs were make beds, cleaning and getting room ready for customers. I worked with some Thai friends, native Americans and some people from other countries. I lived in a dormitory which all the employees lived. After we had been working all day, my friend and I liked to cook and had dinner together. Because there were a lot of people eating together, it made me feel like we had a party everyday. By that time, I knew a lot of new friends from different countries. We exchanged our cultural by talking and showing some pictures, and we cooked for each other. The greatest thing was that I lived in The Grand Canyon, the place that everybody wants to visit once in the lift time. It is very beautiful and unbelievable. It was always sunny and windy. The people who visited and worked there always smiled and were happy. I thought American people were so nice, not like what I had heard. Before I came to the USA, I heard somebody say American people are not always nice, they hurried and didn’t care about other people. But it wasn’t true. Maybe because everybody was on vacation, so they were in good moods. Anyway that time was a good experience for me and I will always remember it.

About 8mounths ago, I arrived in the US at JFK airport. The exactly date was jan.1. Everything looked surprising. There are different faces, language, culture, food and so on. I remember that this day was interesting and surprising. I tried to call my friend after arriving here, but I did not know how to use the public phone and I could not speak anything. It was a terrible time waiting for my friend in the airport. After one hour, I met my friend and carried my luggage to the house. I had 2 big luggage and 2 small bag. It was very hard time.

My friend and I went to manhattan for dinner after finishing carrying the luggage to the house. Since I take a train, I was very surprised because, I had seen many rat in the station. I said to my friend “look at that” it was very big one. He said “never mind, you can see every day in the house” I was a little bit disappointed, because I imagined NY as one of the largest cities in the world. After that, we got off the train at times square.
I was surprised again, I could not only see high –sky line buildings and beautiful neon signs but also different race on the street. In addition, there were many kinds of musicals and shows. I had never seen before. After finishing the dinner, we went to wall streets.
Here was a middle of economy in the world. I thought that “The world was wide. I have to study more again. I would like to build up my career in NY”.

Sometimes, If I was tired and exhausted while living in NY, I would remember my promise on this day.

At first, when I was in my country, I had a girlfriend.
We went to school together. She was young, smart and pretty.
We studied, ate something, went to the movies, and so on.
We had met for 9months...
But unfortunately, I had to come here because I had to study English
for my future and my major. When I was in my country,
my major was international business, so English was very important.
My dream is to be a business man who in the trading company.
But she had a different dream. She wanted to be a teacher.
So we talked about our future for a long time.
Finally, we decided to separate for our plan...
She and I were very sad, but I hoped that she would be happy, and I hope so now.
I think she did too. I decided to come to the U.S to make dream come true.
I’d like to experience many things, and study English, enjoy the life in New York.
Also I want to meet many friends.
I’m going to cheer up!!
And I’ll pray for her…

Last week was a special one for me. Last Monday, I went to San Francisco with my friend. We were on our first trip in America, and we didn’t have much information.
Our plans were two destinations. The first was San Francisco and the second was Seattle.
San Francisco is a very very beautiful city.
It has clean and beautiful weather, nice people.
There aren’t a lot of Asians also. Many Asians live in New York.
But it’s not that I don’t like Asians. I’m Asian and I like them.
I just want to meet a lot of Americans because I came here.
Anyway, when my friend and I arrived in San Francisco, we asked people directions.
They were very kind and they hoped that we could travel well.
They always said “Good luck” to us.
And we had special and exciting experiences.
The third day, I had to go to Seattle. Our flight was at 6:00 in the morning.
So I asked the front desk about calling a taxi at 4:30 am.
But early the next morning, the taxi didn’t come to the hotel.
We didn’t wait any more, so we walked to the train station.
When we walked on the road with luggage, a policeman came to us.
He questioned us, so we explained about our situation.
He could ride to the station, and we got in the police car.
I was taken in a police car the fist time, it was a very new experience.
The car’s back door couldn’t be opened from inside.
By the way, we were late to airport, so we took the next flight.
In Seattle, we went to space needle, Starbucks first store and pike place market, etc.
I went to the top of space needle also, and I could see a very nice view.
Maybe I can’t forget this travel. It was very difficult and tiring, but I got many good memories.
I wish New York were cleaner than it is now.
After the trip I think New York is the dirtiest in the U.S.
It’s just my opinion, but I think it’s true.
Anyway, I want to take a trip again soon.
If people take trips many times, they will be more creative and open minded.

I want to talk about my special day. Today is my special day because my sister called me with big news! She told me that she got a job. I know that people might ask me why it is important for me, and why it gives me the most special day in my life.

I have two sisters, and I really get along with them. They always back me up whenever and whatever I need. Recently, I worried about my second sister because she worried about her future, and disappointed from the test which she prepared to get her goal for her life. She studied for a long time. I know that it was really hard work to prepare to the test for a long time because she studied a lot of things, and same study over and over again. Few weeks ago, she told my family she wanted to change her plan, and she would get a job.

In the morning, I got a call from my sister with good news. I could not believe that she got a job. Because it was difficult to get a job for only a short time and it was her first job. I hope she will have good experiences whit her first job even though the company is far. This experience will make her close to her gold.

What do you think about my special day? Does it sound like something special? I think that the special quality is nothing special because people feel special from small things, like me. I have many special days, but now it is the most special day for me that my sister got a job. I never forget this special day!!!!

The last Independence day I went to the Porcono for rafting with 8 friends. That was my first rafting. At first I did not expect anything from rafting because I hardly ever exercised but my friend told me, “Sometimes we need fresh air” That’s why I went there.
That was a really hard time. The paddle was heavy and weather was really bad.
However we started rafting. We paddled fast and played with the water. I got wet from head to toe. Also, I didn’t know how cold my body was. As much as that, I enjoyed rafting. We arrived almost last but really it was good.
When we finished the game we felt tired and hungry. The last Independence Day is my special day since I arrived here. From time to time, I remember that day.

My special day (I graudated from University and celebrated for it)

My special day was the day I graduated from university, after studying 4 years for a bachelor of engineering. ,I got up earlier than normal because I was extremely exiting.
On that day, I got a lot of gifts, flowers. My close friend came and congratulated me, and my family did also. I was very proud of myself. I had smiled all day since waking up .It was like a dream, cannot explain my feeling .I took at least 200 photos with the people whom I known , parents ,friend, teacher …etc.. , as I remembered.
After celebrating in the evening, I took a nap for a moment to get energy back before joining the night party, a small club in the city. However, I arrived there very early, and my friends followed me later.
On that night, I drank some alcohol, red wine, beer and whiskey as well . I talked with my friend who wouldn’t talk each other for a long time after graduated. It was a wonderful night, Some of them were very drunk and told many jokes that they’ve never done it before .I and my friends enjoyed funny activities like we were student again.
Among friends, some already got jobs, some did not, some continued for a master degree. As normal topics we talked were “Gossip about the boss”, “How to get a job”, “When will you graduate with a master degree “ and many thing more. They were all happy their life, and so was I.

A special day in my past was the day when I met my husband.
That was three years ago when he visited his family in Romania. I went to a party. It was my co-worker’s birth-day celebration. My co-worker is his cousin. He was invited to the party, too. His cousin introduced me to him. I felt , in the first moments, that he would be my husband. He told me that he had lived in New York and he was in Romania only for vacation..
That day was very special for me, because it changed my life. That was the reason why I chose to leave my parents, my friends…in my country, and to come and live in the U.S. with him.
I knew that it would be very hard for me in a different country, different culture…
I don’t know if I made the right decision. Now, we have gotten married and we are very happy, but I miss my parents and my friend from my country.
That day was very special because it changed everything for me.

UNFORGETABLE TRIP

A few years ago .I took a trip ,a really good trip that I can remember well.It was to a beach city in Brazil, my home country . It is called Porto Seguro.

At this time I was in high school in my last year .I was 17 years old .My classmates and I were going to finish the school and for celebration we thought of taking a trip ,everybody together .It was going to be a great idea. So we took one.

Definitely it was a great idea .I was maybe the best trip that I ever took .We stayed in a hotel close it was a close to the beach a very good location .And also very good hotel, with big rooms, good services and kindly employees. Everyday in the morning we went to the beach and at night . We always enjoyed the night life .There were many bars a lot of parties, many nice people .I met many beautiful girls there and one of them after the trip became my girlfriend , but this is an other story

Any way, I stayed there for seven days that I really liked .They were good memories and I hope to soon take a trip like that.

MY SPECIAL DAY

This story is about my romance.
7.20.2007 is a very special day for me. In the early evening, I was on my way to a market to buy something. At that time, some guy tried to talk to me but at first, I didn’t know that because I was listening to music. A few minutes later, I noticed some guy was trying to get my attention. That’s the first time we met.
He wanted to say hello to me and we talked for a while. He was American but he had known some Korean. He said he was interested in learning foreign languages, especially Korean. He accompanied me to go to the market. In the market, I bought a lot of stuff. Food, water, and some equipment for working out. Actually, I didn’t know well about any equipment for working out. I was just looking for something to work out by myself but he knew well about that. He explained about some equipment. How I could use that, what that was for, if I want to excise for some part of the body, what kinds of equipment were useful for me. So I could choose some stuff. Those were too heavy to be carried by one person. He helped me. He carried the stuff to my house. I guess if he hadn’t helped me, I might not have carried all the stuff I bought alone. Anyway, he was so kind. After we stopped by my house to put away that stuff, we talked a lot. Meanwhile, we took a walk.
If I hadn’t passed the place he was walking, we might not have met each other, but we met.
I got a good friend and now he has become my boyfriend.

I wanted go on a trip anyplace in the world and I wished to visit Canada
because of the natural environment and very kindly people living there.
The best of reasons was to watch the northern lights.

I prepared an action for trip on Feb 2007. My friend has been living in Banff
So, I wanted to meet her and go to the Rocky Mountains with
her friends by car,but The weather was very crazy because snow had
fallen down the night before, and it Was colder than New York.
We drove a car to go to Edmonton after I arrived at the airport.
I had seen a lot of snow in New York and in my country but
when I was in Canada, I had never seen that situation.

We stayed in Edmonton for 3 days in a Canadian’s home. I learned about their life Style and what they talked about as issues. We played with their children at home and Were very encouraged by the situation. The weather was colder than
when I arrived.
I couldn’t drink water inside a car that every drink was frozen or like ice. I thought about where it was “how can they live here?” Maybe I should not do so.

We went further up the earth because we needed to see the nouthern lights.
This is a very special thing in the world an most important the area,
cold and only night Its appearance just can be seen from midnight to 2am.
It looked like a cartoon and river that was a very wonderful day and
we were lucky people in the world.

However, I did not know what would happen to us when we wrer going to our
dormitory at Banff. The driver was falling a sleep at the wheel. It was very dangerous to us, if the car had fallen frome the road,
we might have been killed. The car just punctured a the tire, so, we were safe.

My trip was only a few days but those days gave a special experience to me.
I will never forget it!

I have had many special days, but I remember especially one day. It was summer. My family and I went to Hawaii. My cousin had recommended a special tour for us. It was the Polynesian Culture Center.
We got up very early and went on the tour in a big bus. When we arrived, it was very hot, but we were happy because it was a nice place. The guide was Japanese, but he could also speak Spanish because his mother was Bolivian. The name of the guide was Gabriel.
Gabriel gave us a pretty “flowers chain” and we looked very Hawaiian. First, we went on the “canoa” tour and we could see many Polynesian islands, and many natural things like beautiful flowers, plants, big trees, etc. All people said to us “Aloha!” because Aloha means hello. They were funny and pleasant people.
When we left the “canoa” tour, we visited different “islands” like Fiji, Hawaii, Samoa and others. On each island, they had a special dance, house, food, clothes and I enjoyed everything.
We learned the basic steps for the dance and also to make a fish with a leaf. We took many pictures. There were many funny shows where you could sing, dance, or do something.
Finally, we saw a special show. It was about a fantastic man. He could go up a palm tree very easy and quickly. He also could take milk from a coconut only with his hands and a coconut, and he could make fire without a match and he could touch it (it was very dangerous, but no for him).
The show ended at 10:30 PM, we were so excited and tired and went to the hotel very late. We slept like babies.
