Story design elements

Remember there are some rules to building a strong story:

In the first paragraph, only write about one thing. Make a picture for the reader. Use color, sound, as you like.

In the first paragraph, don't use the word "I" (or "he" or "she" if the story is not your own.

Write the first paragraph only first and give a print to Kevin. The first paragraph should not be very short.

Don't use these words: nice, beautiful, interesting, wonderful, etc.

the religion of Japan

When I was in Japan, I was'n interested in the religion of Japan. However, since I came to N.Y, I've seen different people who have religions. I began to want to know about my religion while taking English classes at another school. At that time, "Religion in your life" was discussed in the class. When the other students talked about their religions, I felt embaassed because I had nothing to talk about. Although all Japanese students there couldn't describe what the native religion of Japan was, few considered themselves Buddist, even thought they didn't know exactly about buddism. Were Japanese people indifferent to religion? I decided to search the Web for sites about religion. According to the sites, which I looked at. The Japan's major religion was both Shinto(the way of God) and buddism. The two religions have been co-exsisting for several senturies and even have complimented each other. If people had monotheist religions, they would have particular places to play, have scliptures like Bible and there would be some rules to follow. On the other hand, religion had no absolute god like Shinto,
it had neither priests nor scriptures.

Experience in New York

When I lived in Peru, I was very happy, but since I came to New York, I have completely changed my life. I first saw

the difference between the people when I was living here. The people of New York lived a stressful life. At the time

of my arriving here, I felt terrible. My mother told me to stay in New York, but I didn't want to stay by myself. Aware

that my mother wanted me to stay, I decided to study English. The English language was not only difficult, but also

complicated. After studying for two or three months, I found a job in a restaurant. If the restaurant had a problem,

the boss would be here. In contrast, the education in Peru wasn't too advanced. In most restaurants, the boss

required a worker to have a social security number for taxes. On the other hand, Peru had more opportunities to do

something. Cao Su Fang

son and I understand how you feel now. I agreed with you about the unnecessary war and the needless sacrifice

with our sons and daughters.I'll talk to Bush as soon as possible and I hope Bush can salve this terrible tragedy in our

country because I don't want to see anymore unnecessary death. That's why I have to convince Bush to put the end

to this tragedy.I'll give you good news that you were waiting for, so you have to be patient. Anyway I'll try to get

The diffrence

When a child lived in farm,he was happy. However, since he moved to gig city he has beenunhappy.

He first saw the difference between the two places while looking for a house.

An apartment was found by his parents.

When he went to the apartment,it was too small.

Although the apartment was modern, there wasn't any space in ehich he could play.

Had his parents found the smollest apartment? His parents decided to find another apartment.

Another apartment was both in a nice location and convinient.

His parents decided to live there, and they persuaded him.

If they live in big city, there isn't enough space in which a child can play.

On the other hand, there are some amusement grounds in the city.

Some amusement grounds were built by children's wishes.

In contrast, they don't need some amusement grounds because there are many spaces in which children can play enough.

When my family and I lived in a beautiful farm, we were very happy in there. However, since we moved to a big city such as New York, we have been unhappy because our lives changed. We first saw the difference between the two places while looking for a good house for live. An appointment for a lease was scheduled for five o'clok by the landlord of the house and us. When we arrived in the house, only a old woman was cleaning up there. Although the land lord came late, he did not justify the reason of her lateness. Had we arrived at wrong time?. My family and I determined to ask some questions.
The landlord was both serius and nice behavior. He planed with us for thirty minutes, and he had a view to us of the house. If tenant was responsible with their montly payment. the landlord thought that any person acceptable. On the other hand, houses in big cities was a good division. Tenants were asked by landlord of the New York to show them to be true honesty and responsability. In contrast, Landlord in New York appeared to be true about accessibility to lease a house. If tenant almost always had a excelent reference.

MY LIFE IN NEW YORK

When I lived in Peru, I lived with my parents, but since I came to New York I have been alone.

I first felt the difference between living with the family and living alone when I was cooking my meal. I needed to work to support myself. At the time of my interview for a job, I was very exicted. I was sure of myself, but I didn't know what type of person was going to inetrview me. Wondering if I had put on proper attire, I decided to look at myself in the mirror. The interviewer was not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor. After talking with him for half an hour, I gave him thanks for the job. If they needed a man, almost no woman was considered for the job.

In contrast, women were waiting for the interview. I asked the interview to tell me how much I would make. On the other hand, I also thought how many hours I would work for.

As your Congresswoman, I will to speak with other Congressmen and explain to them about the family grief. I also think that this war is unnecesary. However, the war will continue until Iraq reaches some political stability. Fortunately, many soldier are proud serve our contries.
The soldiers Know about their work that is to bring this war to an end and I think that they are proud to defend the interest of our contry and their beliefs. I know you and other family grief. However, your children chose to defend our contries interests. The soldier work is important in the world. You must be proud of your son and many parents and families should be proud of their children. They are "Heroes". If countries do not have soldiers, perhaps, order and people will be afraid of terrorism.
Finally, all wars are unnecesary , but while in the world exist people that want Power, there will be always war. And the soldiers always will have to risk their lives. And for this reasons "they are Heroes".

Dear Cindy Sheehan

Dear Cindy Sheehan,

I have received your letter and I know about your story, about the grief that you and so many other families are facing. I have heard about Camp Casey and about your opposition to the war.

First of all, I would like to let you know that I join with your suffering and I want you to accept my heartfelt sympathy about your son.

I understand perfectly the way you feel about this war and I believe everybody would feel the same.

You’re right, I am a congressman and I have the power to declare war and to end war, a war that sent our sons and daughters in Iraq to fight for a noble cause.
What is that noble cause? This is a delicate subject because fighting in Iraq against the greatest threat of our days, against terrorism, against weapons of mass destructions is a noble cause.

Many people wonder why the war is being waged by the US and not another country, why always the US? Being one of the most powerful countries in the world it is our duty to have a great role in defending against the actual threats of the world.

Our major responsibility is to keep this nation safe, even if that means making great sacrifices.

It is true that as a member of the Congress I have the enormous responsibility to end this war and bring our sons and daughters home as soon as possible, and I will do the best I can to make that happening.

Sincerely,

United States Congressman

Dear Cindy Sheehan

As a Representativ of Congres I would like to tell you that I feel soory for your loss. You have had a really awful experience. You have had to bury your son, who died in a war that was wrong. This war was a mistake from the begining and I understand that you need some answers. After your son died your life fell apart and you have the right to protest. President Bush said that they died for a ''Noble Couse'', but what is a real meaning of those words? What is the real reason for the war in Iraq. There are many question that many of us Congress people want to be answered. I promise you I will tray to talk to G.W Bush, but now I can say that I'm proud of you and I'm keeping your position. Also, I belive that your son was proud to be a soldier and he did it for a " good cause"

Dear the Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi

I would like to talk to you about war in Iraq.

You sent the army to Iraq eventhough our country made s peace treaty. I would like to know why they had to go there. Do we have to cooperate with America eventhough it is war? I do not think so. We should have a strong policy for world peace.

I think that a counterattack makes a counterattack again.
On september 11,terrorists attaked the World Trade Center in New York. A lot of people were killed. We got a shock because many guiltless people died. Therefore,we have to think of the opposite situation.

I do not want to hear sad news anymore.

We should keep our world peace. Therefore,we should not make a new war.

My purpose for coming to New York is not only to study English
but also to have many experiences.
Moreover, I want to meet various people.

My major was Visual Communication Design and
I had worked at an advertising agency as a graphic designer
for several years. At that time, I felt that if I was good
at English I could get a better position at a better company.

In addition, I am interested in many things, like music and film.
If I have free time, I usually go to the cinema.
I love pets, especially dog and cats.
I have a doggie in my country, so I am missing her sometimes.

And I like listening to music and going to some performances
and concerts. Sometime, I hang out with my friends and
we go to a good place.

Actually, I miss meals which are homemade style from my mom,
but the one thing that I like about New York is I can eat
various kinds of food. Sometimes, we can cook together.

Besides, I like park like Central park, Bryant Park and Battery Park.
I like travel, so if I possible I want to go many places in the U.S.
I just have been to Washington D.C and Boston.
I want to go to the West Coast and Miami next time.

Dear Cindy Sheahon

Akio Uchino
I appreciate that you've mailed me a letter. May I offer my deepest sympathies on the death of your son. However, making President Bush decide to end the war is quite an effort. We need to reconsider what the maine purpose of the war is. President Bush has tried to make the meaning of this war by giving reasons one after another, although people have already realized the war seems to come to grief. Not only did American soldiers make supreme sacrifice, but also did other countries's soldiers. I'll take action immediatly to stop an increase in deaths from the war.
