My propose for coming to USA was not only did I visit this country but I also wanted to know better the American culture and the way of life. Moreover, my ideas about this country have changed a lot since I came here.
My name is Elena Gavrilescu, I was born in Romania, East Europe. In that part of the world the life is a little bit different from here, the mentality is different. Too many influences (russian, turkish) but it will always be my country and I miss it so much…
I don’t have my family or my friends here with me so the first few months had been a little bit difficult for me but in the end a made same new friends.
I went to high-school and after that to university in my country, I graduated in History. I liked very much history that was almost like a hobby to me. My dream was to become an archeologist, to travel around the world and discover the mystery of the ancient civilizations.
The English classes at LaGuardia Collage are going to help me to improve my English language, to speak, write and understand better.
When a friend of mine asked me why I came here and what my ideas was about this big change in my life I told her that I knew this is my cense of doing what I always dreamed of, becoming an archeologist (in my country this profession almost doesn’t exist, there are no funds for researches) so I took that risk and I came here alone despite that I don’t have 20 years old anymore…
Even that I know how hard it’s going to be I still believe that I can do that, I still have faith that one day my dream becomes truth.
