"Subprime" - this word was put together from two word which is the prefix "sub"means
under or below and the word "prime"means something good or high level. Together "subprime"
means somethings under the top level.
In 2005, the word "subprime" started to be known and used in the media. In 2007 "subprime" became 'the word of the year' after has been using the explained the financial
problems that had begun. Financial problems also brought a few new words to public, like
the word "staycation" means vacation that people stay at home but I don't think you can fine
the meaning of this word in any dictionarys.
By the way there is one way to get to know the new things. Just open your mind,your
eyes,your ears and things will come to you,somehow.

You raise a very original point. New Situations in the world create a need for new language. "Staycation" and "subprime" are words that did not exist before the present economic crisis.
