His father is A chef and his mother is a salesman. THEY (Don't forget to start every new sentence with a capital letter) live in New York. His father is 46, and his mother is 42. His father is lenient, but his mother is very strict. His favorite subject was MATH  because his best friend pastis (PASSED IT?)  to him. He IS going to stay here all of his life. He THINKS New York is very wonderful . His favorite place in the world is A PARTY because it MAKES him relax, and SOMETIMES he TEXTS while HE'S walking.  


NOTE: You should put a comma (,)  before AND, BUT and SO  if there is a new SUBJECT after it. If there is NO NEW SUBJECt, no comma (,) is necessary.

Example A: His father is 46, and his mother is 42.

Here the new subject is "his mother". A comma (,) is necessary before "and."

Example B; His father is 46 and is a chef.

Here there is no new subject. A comma (,) is not necessary before "and"


Question for you:

Look at these two sentences. Which one needs a comma before "but" and which one doesn't need a comma before "but"


A. He likes New York but doesn't plan to live here forever.


or

B. She likes Thailand but she prefers Beijing.


(One sentence is correct but one is incorrect because the comma is missing. Which (A or B) is incorrect?)
