For Roberto

Let's look at your writing about Alfredo.

I have re-written it with some corrections. This time the changes are in capital letters so they are easier to see.

The grammar is fundamentally correct. You clearly understood the story and accurately summarized it. There are some errors of past tense verbs and word order.

English spelling is famously difficult. I recommend you use the "spell check" (ABC above on the right side). I use it and find it convenient.

from the teacher:

Alfredo Hinojosa was born in MEXICALI CITY, Mexico. Mexicali is 60 miles before THE U.S. border, CLOSE to California. His family HAD a gas station. ALFREDO'S FIRST JOB WAS IN HIS FATHER'S GAS STATION, when HE was 5 years old.

In 1970s, in Mexico THE economic situation BECAME CRITICAL, and Alfredo decided to go to the United StateS to help his family. He put 65 dollars in his pocket and WENT. The first job in the U.S., was in a farm. Alfredo picked cotton, cantaloupes and tomatoes. HE bought a terrible camper, WITH  no doors, broken everywhere, and PAID $300.
