notes on Iraz' post

Iraz,

The two grammatical forms are similar but we use them differently. In this conversation, you have used them correctly. Errors are minor. I have noted them below your conversation.

1. A: How long did it take you to fly from your country to NY?
B: It took me ten hours.
2. A: How long does it take you to go to sleep?
B: It takes me fiftteen minues.
3. A: How long does it take you to be prepared everymorning?
B: It takes me twenty minutes.
4. A: How long does it take you to do laundry?
B: It took me one and half hour.
5. A: How long did the last book you to read last?
    B: It lasted three days.
6. A How long did the last meeting last?
    B: It lasted one hours.
7. A: How long did it take you to go to university last?
B: It took me four years.
8. A: How long did the last concert you went to last?
    B: It lasted three hours.
9. A: How long did the last relationship last?
    B: It lasted two years.

"Fifteen" is misspelled.

In 4, the question is present tense, but the answer is past tense.

In 5, "to" should be omitted.

In 6, "hour" is singular.

The question in number 7 mixes the two forms incorrectly.

Form 1. How long did your university education last?

Answer: It lasted four years.

Form  2: How long did it take you to complete your university education?

Answer: It took me four years.

Both the question and the answer of 8  are correct.

Number 9 is grammatically correct but a little confusing. Which relationship is A asking about? Her relationship? The relationship of friends?
