The past sentence

Two college friends were gossiping about classmates. One friend told the other that
a student in his Spanish class had a new girlfriend. The friend saids that a student in his history class had a new boyfriend. They told the names of the two lovers and found out that the woman in the Spanish class was the girlfriend of the man in the History class. They told this gossip to many other clssmates. Soon it is in the gossip section of the school newspaper.
