Facial Expressions Are Not Universal_Atchariya

The people from different cultures read facial expressions differently. Westerners and East Asians interpret facial expressions were differences because they have a different face expression. I agree that The East Asians use the eyes in emoticons to show emotion in cyberspace as they are the iconic representation of facial expressions to show your emotion and guess the mood of the people from eyes contact when you talk or communicate with someone.

Atchariya,

There are differences in how East Asians and Westerners interpret facial expressions, and as a result they have different facial expressions. According to that article, East Asians focus more on the eyes, so they probably use eyes more for communication than Westerners do, both in cyberspace and face-to-face. I agree with you that facial expressions help us guess the mood of people. In cyber-space, we use emoticons- East Asians differently from Westerners- but they lack nuance.
