People from Westerns and East Asians read and interpret facial expressions differently. They look at different face feature to read it. Both of cultures interpreting facial expressions by using emoticons.

People from Western countries and East Asians read facial expressions differently ("interpret" and "read" here have the same meaning). They look at a different facial feature to read it. Both cultures use emoticons in cyberspace, where we cannot see real facial expressions.
