PAOLA , GUSTAVO

Alfredo Quinones Hinojosa , he is from Mexico , He came to the USA in 1970, he was a former illegal immigrant when he hopped a border fence from Mexico. Today, he is neurosurgeon and professor at Johns Hopkins University, and a researcher to find a new treatment of brain cancer. The distance of his hometown form the USA border is about 60 miles, he was born there. His first job at age 5, was working in a small gas station of his father. His grandmother had two jobs, village healer and midwife. In the mid-1970, when Mexico economy collapsed, Alfredo had 18 years, He continued his schooling and he become a teacher. Him made the decision to head north, to provide for his family. Alfredo Quinones, Alfredo Quinones worked on a farm in U.S.  picking,cotton,tomatoes and cantaloupes. He lived in a camper broken down, he bought in $300, when his cousin told him what he would be a farmer for always, he started studying English at the community college, then, he attended to the University of California,Barkeley. He developed a passion for the scientific method, so he attend Harvard Medical School, where he delivered the commencement speech. He also got his U.S citizenship at that time. Quinones- Hinojosa owes his success to people who gave him a hand throughout his life.
