Christian's story

He is fifteen and from Mexico.

It is not having documentation to live and work in this country.

He worked in clothing factory and really didn't like it.

He has been searching for a way to get legal residency.

He thought joining the military might be the key.

He sees men lined up waiting for "day labor," and the view makes him very depressed.

Yes, he knows one, his step father.

He doesn't want to spend it doing unskilled labor, such as breaking concrete or working in a clothing factory.

He wants to become an engineer or an archaeologist and study his ancestors, the Aztecs.

He came when he was a baby by crossing the border with his mother.

No, he doesn't, because he grew up speaking English.

His friends will be graduating from college. Christian's two choices will be to work "off the books" or to go back to Mexico, where he doesn't have any connection.

He was thinking about it because it might be a way to become a citizen.

We don't know his name because he is afraid of being discovered by Immigration.
