Comments on Aleyda's post

 Aleyda,

Lets' look at the conversation you wrote. At first glance, it looks fine. I don't see a lot of errors. But let's look more closely.

R: Hi! How are you?
A:Hi, I am good.

That's correct.

R: How about you?
     I am fine.
How long did take your most  recent vacation last?

The question here has problems.

The form we used in class would be: "How long did the last vacation you took take?" That's grammatically correct, but it sounds strange. The grammar doesn't really fit the question. A better way would be simply: "How long was your last vacation?"

A: It lasted 2 weeks
I was the most memorable vacation

The answer is correct. But "It was the most memorable vacation" could use some more information. for example, "It was the most memorable vacation in my life." That's clearer.

R: Where did you go?
A: I went to Italy, the places I visited are Rome, Venice, and Florence.

This is correct (both question and answer), but after Italy you need a period (.), not a comma (,) because there are two separate sentences.

Rome is the capital o modern Italy. It is full of history everywhere you look.
     Rome has interesting medieval churches.

Those two are completely correct, Aleyda.

Venice is a unique city built on water, it is one of Italy's most beautiful and romantic cities.

Florence is one of the most important renaissance architectural and art centers.

The trip was amazing and remarkable.

The 3 sentences above also have no errors.

R: I am so happy for you.
How long did it take you decided place to visit?

This has a problem. You have to use "take you to + VERB. After "to" you have to use BASE FORM OF THE VERB (no "ed" or "ing" or anything at the end. So it should be "How long did it take you TO DECIDE.." And "place needs an DIRECT ARTICLE (the) or INDIRECT ARTICLE (a). The correction is "a place to visit" or "the place to visit."

A:It took me and my husband 1 week.

That's correct.

R: How long did it take you and your husband to planned that trip?

This one has the same error as in the question before. You can fix it ("to + VERB BASE FORM)

A:   It took us 3 months.
We decided together the places to went...

Remember, after "to" you always have to use VERB BASE FORM, so the correction here is "to go."

Nice to see you, I will get off from bus next stop

This sentence needs a PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE, "at the next stop."

And before bus there should be no PREPOSITION "from," only a DIRECT ARTICLE ("get off the bus" is the correction. Notice that in this case "off" is not a preposition. It is part of the TWO-WORD VERB "get off."

R: ok... Nice to see you too, I will see you later.

This is a very minor point, but the "o" in "ok" should be capitalized because it is the beginning of the sentence.
