South Korea lies below the 38th parallel on the Korean peninsular.
It is mountainous in the east, in the west and south are many harbors
on the mainland and offshore islands.
Population(2004 est):48,598,175
growth rate:0,6% birth rate:12.3/1000
Life expectancy :75.6
Capital :Seoul
Language: Korean. English widely taught.
Ethnicity/race: Homogeneous (except for about 20.000 Chiness)

Hello Duk Hee,
Thanks for sending in your portrait of South Korea. It's a country that has grown at a prodigious rate in recent decades. I'm particularly interested by recent Korean successes in the arts. Korean films are winning prizes all over the world. Do you have a favorite Korean movie or director?
