americo

Not only do all of us go to work, every day,but all of us also enjoyed dancing with our friends

Americo,

This sentence is correct in all aspects except punctuation. It should have one comma (,) only, after "day" (not before "every") and there should be a period (.) at the end of the sentence.

Also, there should be a space after the comma.

incorrect: every day,but all

correct: every day, but all

sonia " Things we have in common"

Not only do all of us go to work every day, but all of us also enjoyed going to the beach last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to learn English  more. In addition, we have all finished the English homework this week and would like to move to a better neighborhood

Sonia,

This is completely correct. Not only did you write a difficult, complex connected series of sentences, but you also successfully posted it on the blog.

You forgot the period (.) at the end, but that's just an oversight.

ESTEFANIA

Not only do all of us try to eat healthy food every day, but all of us also eat unhealthy food and enjoyed it. Moreover, in 2014 we are trying to eat healthy food every day. In addition, we try to eat homemade healthy food at home. New York City has all kind of food markets so you can buy any food here. This is the one of the reason people like to live in New York City forever.

Very nice work. Estefania.

I think the sentence that begins "Moreover, in 2014" should use the future tense: "Moreover, in 2014 we are going to try eating healthy food every day." Your sentence is correct, but I think because 2014 has just begun it makes sense to use the future tense.

When you use "one of the + Noun" the noun should be plural.

correct: "One of the reasons."

Otherwise, it's fine. It's exemplary.

juana

THING WE HAVE IN COMMON
Not only do all of us go to work every day, but all of us also enjoyed it dancing with our friends last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to go to a lot of parties, In addition, we have all done a homework this week and would like to learn and speak English well.

Juana,

Impressively written.

Here are some minor errors.

"It" is not necessary after "enjoyed it."

correct: "All of us enjoyed dancing."

You should end sentences with periods (.) not commas (,)

incorrect: ".... all going to a lot of parties, In addition, we have..."

correct:  "... all going to a lot of parties. In addition, we have.."

Also, homework is uncountable, so you can't use the indefinite article (a), which means the number one.

incorrect: "a homework"

correct: "the homework" (specific)

correct: "homework" (general)

The rest is 100% correct.

Rouf

Not only do all of us eat healthy food every day, but all of us eat also unhealthy food and enjoyed it.
Moreover, in 2014 we are trying to eat healthy food every day. In addition, we try to eat home made healthy food at home.  New York city has all kinds of food markets so you can buy any food here. This is the one of the reason people like to live in new York city forever.

thanks
rouf

Rouf,

This is good. Let me suggest some changes.

The second clause ("but all of us eat also eat unhealthy food and enjoyed it") begins with the present tense ("eat") and changes to the past tense ("enjoyed"). That's confusing. The reader isn't sure which time you are talking about. I suggest using the present perfect (have+ verb (past participle) for the second verb ("enjoyed"). That way you are including both the present and the past.

Note: in the second clause, "also" should be before the verb

correct: "Not only do all of us eat healthy food every day, but all of us also eat unhealthy food and have enjoyed it."

There should be a comma (,) before the conjunction "so."

Note: The first letters of all three words in New York City are capitalized.

correct: New York City has all kinds of food markets, so you can buy any food here.

Note: In "one of + noun."the noun must be plural.

correct: "one of the reasons"

Not only all of us take the subway every day, BUT all of us also enjoyed taking with our friends last year. Moreover in 2014 we are all going to go to a lot of parties.IN addition. we have all endured cold weather this week and would like to live in NEW YORK forever....

Let me recommend two changes. Look at the word and punctuation mark in bold type to see the corrections:

Note: BUT and IN and NEW YORK should not be capitalized.

Not only do all us take the subway every day, but all of us also enjoyed talking with our friends last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to go to a lot of parties. In addition, we have all endured cold weather this week and would like to live in New York forever.

cecilia THINGS WE HAVE COMMON

NOT  only do all of us go to work every day,but all of us also enjoyed studying English last year.
Moreover ,in 2014 we are all going to pass level 7.In addition ,all of us have been worked and we would like to change lifestyle.

Cecilia,

This looks good. There is a minor mechanical problem. A comma (,) or period (.) should have no space before it and 1 space after it.

incorrect: "every day,but"

incorrect: "every day , but"

incorrect: "every day ,but"

correct: "every day, but" (no space before the comma and 1 space after it)

"All of us have been worked" is incorrect.

There are two choices, both correct.

present perfect ("have" or "has"+ verb (past participle): "All of us have worked"

present perfect continuous ("have" or "has"+ been (this is past participle of "be")+ Verb (ing form): "All of us have been working."

present perfect continuous suggests the action is continuous. With present perfect, the action may not be continuous.

Not only do all of us work every, day but all of us also enjoyed studding English last year. Moreover,in 2014 we are all going to pass level 7. In addition, we have all have been worked and we would like to change lifestyle.

This is fine. There is an error in spelling, mechanics and grammar.

spelling: "studying English" is correct.

mechanics: put no space before a comma (,) and 1 space after it.

incorrect: "Moreover,in 2014"

correct: "Moreover, in 2014"

That's a good rule to remember. It makes writing look better, which is important because writing is a visual form of communication.

"have all been worked" is incorrect.

There are two choices, both correct.

present perfect ("have" or "has"+ verb (past participle): "All of ushave worked"

present perfect continuous ("have" or "has"+ been (this is past participle of "be")+ Verb (ing form): "All of us have been working."

present perfect continuous suggests the action is continuous. With present perfect, the action may not be continuous.

Beleln Gallego

Not only do we go to work, but we also, in 2014 we will go to celebrate thanksgiven with our family and we will be going to open bank acount

Belen, this is okay but needs some changes. Look at the bold type below to see the corrections.

Not only do we go to work, but in 2014 we will also celebrate (or: we are also going to celebrate) Thanksgiving with our families, and we will open (or: we are going to open) bank accounts.

Maria del Carmen

Not only do all of us go to work every day, but all of us enjoyed visiting different places in New York. Moreover in 2014 we are all going to speak English very well. In addition this week we have been with too much cold this week and would like live in New York for ever.

Maria del Carmen, this is well written. The beginning and middle are perfect. There are some minor problems at the end- but it is apparent your English is much stronger now. That's great.

Here are correction suggestions.

A. There should be a comma (,) after "moreover"and "in addition"

correct: "Moreover, in 2014.." and "In addition, this week"

Correction of the last sentence: In addition, this week we have been too cold but would like to live in New York forever.

("But" makes more sense than "and" because it is surprising that people want to live forever in such a cold city).
Not only do all of us go to work every day, but all of us also enjoyed going to the beach last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to learn English more. In addition, we have all finished the English homework  this week and would like to move to a better neighborhood.

There are no errors at all here. You forgot to write your name, though.

Abeda

Notonly all of us work everyday, but all of us also enjoyed traveling with our family last year .More over, in 2014 we are all going to take a vacation . In addition, we have all practiced our English very well in this week and would like to win lotto.

Abeda,

This is very good. There are just a few errors.

Look, please, at the bold type below to see the corrections.

Not only do all of us work everyday, but all of us also enjoyed traveling with our family last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to take a vacation. In addition, we have all practiced our English very well this week and would like to win Lotto.

Pawel

THING WE HAVE IN COMMON

Not only do all of us work every day, but all of us also enjoyed traveling. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to take vacation. In addition, we have all practiced English this week and would like to win lotto.

Pawel, this is well done. The only errors are mechanical.

You should capitalize "Lotto" because it is a name (of a game).

Remember to leave one space after a period (and no space before it)

incorrect: "traveling.Moreover," and "vacation.In"

correct: "traveling. Moreover," and "vacation. In"

That's a minor error, but writing is visual communication, so the appearance is important.

Things we have in common,by Umida

Not only do all of us go to work, every day, but all of us also enjoyed dancing with our friends last year. Moreover,in 2014 we are all going to go to a lot of parties. In addition, we have all done a homework this week and would like to learn and speak English good.

Umida,

Well done! The errors are mechanical. There is one space after a comma (,) or a period (.)  and no space before it.

Also, after a verb, you should use an adverb. "Good" is an adjective. The adverb is "well."

note: there is no comma before "every day."

note: "homework" is uncountable. You can say "the homework" or just "homework," but not "a homework." "A" means the number one. We can't count "one homework, two homeworks.." in the same way as we cannot count "milk."

correction: Not only do all of us go to work every day, but all of us also enjoyed dancing with our friends last year. Moreover, in 2014 we are all going to go to a lot of parties. In addition, we have all done  homework this week and would like to learn and speak English well.

Sandra

No only do all of us to work every day, but all of us enjoyed visit different places in New York. Moreover in 2014 we are all going to speak English very well. In addition we have been with too much cold this week and would like to live in New York forever

Sandra, this is mostly correct.

remember, after the verb "enjoy" (or "enjoyed," or any other form) we use the gerund (ing form)

correct: enjoyed visiting

There must be a comma after "Moreover" and "In addition."

correct: "Moreover, in 2014" and "In addition, we have..

"we have been with too much cold this week" is wrong. "We have been too cold this week" is right.
Not only all of us like to work every day, but all of us enjoyed to traveling with our family last year.
Moreover in 2,014 we going to take a vacation In addition, we have all practice our English very well in this week.and would like to win lotto.

You forgot to write your name, but your writing is good.

rule: Don't use "to" before a gerund (verb+ing)

correct: "enjoyed traveling."

The future verb construction is: be (is, am, are, was, were, be, been) + going to+ verb

correct: "In 2014, we are going to take a vacation."

You should put a comma (,) after "Moreover" and end sentences with a period (.)

You should not have a period after "week" because it is not the end of a sentence.

"Lotto" is the name of a game and should be capitalized.

You don't need a comma in a year.

incorrect: 2,014

correct: 2014

"have all practice" is incorrect. It should be present perfect (have or has+ verb past participle)

correct: "have all practiced."

correction of the the last two sentences: "Moreover,  in 2014 we going to take a vacation. In addition, we have all practiced our English very well  this week and would like to win Lotto.

Anna

Not only do all of us try to eat healthy food, but all of us also finished our homework last Friday. Moreover, in this year we will learn English language very well. In addition, we have stayed at home because it is cold outside and we would like to travel to Africa.

Anna, you did this well. In fact, there is only one minor error. "This year" is correct. "In this year" is incorrect."

If you give the name of the month or of a season, you can use "in" (in January, in winter), but there is no "in" if you use "this" or "last" or "next." ("next summer, next July," but not "in next summer" or "in next July." Like every language in the world, English has a lot of small problems like this. My advice is not to worry about them. Little by little, you will learn the right way.

jose

Not only do all of us watch news before going out ,but all  of us also enjoyed shopping for Christmas. Moreover in 2014 we are all going to visit different places in summer. In addition we have all shoveled the snow and would like to win a lotto.

Jose, this is expertly done.

There are only some minor mechanical problems. You need a comma (,) after "Moreover" and "In addition." Also, you need a space after each period (.)

incorrect: "Christmas.Moreover in 2014"

correct: "Christmas. Moreover,  in 2014"

Note: "Lotto" is the name of the game and should be capitalized. The game is a "lottery."

correct: would like to win Lotto.

correct: would like to win a lottery.

Esau Agudelo

Not only do all  of us watch news before going out, but all of us also enjoyed shopping for Christmas presents. Moreover, in 2014 we all going to visit different places in summer. In addition, we have all shoveled snow and would like to win a lottery.

Esau, this has no errors at all.

Amadeusz

Not only do all of us watch news before going out but all of us also enjoyed shopping for Christmas presents. Moreover in 2014 we are all going to different places in summer. In addition we have all shoveled  the snow and would like to win a lotto.

Amadeusz, this is fine. Grammar is perfect. There are just 3 punctuation errors.

A. You need a comma (,) before "but"

B. You need a comma (,) after "Moreover" and "In addition"

C, You should put a space after a period (.)

incorrect: "summer.In "

correct: "summer. In "

Those are small errors, but if, for example, someone is applying for a job they can make a difference.

My partner, Myriam, a 47 year old Marrite woman who lives with her husband and son works as a assistant teacher  and speak Spanish and Chinese ,the language of the country, pure, which is on of the continent of America, and of his hometown, Lima, which has a population of two million, She has been in new york for 18 years and feels happy here.

Rouf, this is well done. Let me suggest a few things.

1. When writing by computer, it isn't necessary to indent the first line of a paragraph. Usually, we show paragraphs are separate by leaving an extra space between them (as I have done here).

2. Remember that the article before a vowel (a, e, i, o, u) is "an" not "a."

3. Check spelling of the South American country Myriam is from.

4. The first letters of place names should be capitalized. "New York."

5. When you finish writing, you should read again to look for mistakes, like using the masculine pronoun (his) instead of the feminine pronoun (her).

Maria del Carmen

My partner, Cecilia, a 32 year old married woman who lives with her family works as Teacher Assistant and speaks Spanish, the language of her country, Dominican Republic, which us on the continent of America

Maria del Carmen, this is good. I can suggest a few corrections:

2. Don't use capital letters for the name of a job. "teacher's assistant" is correct.

3. You missed the spelling of "is" and instead put the plural personal object pronoun "us."

4. Usually, names of countries that are 2 words or more begin with "the" (for example, "the United States"), so the correct way is "the Dominican Republic."

cecilia

My partner ,Maria, a 44 year old married woman who  lives with her husband and works as
factory work and speaks Spanish, the language of her country,Peru, which is on the continent of America, and

Cecilia, this is a good start. Let me make some suggestions.

Punctuation: There should be a space after commas (,) and periods (.) but not space before.

incorrect: Spanish,the language

incorrect: Spanish ,the language

incorrect: Spanish , the language

correct: Spanish, the language

That is a minor, mechanical problem, but it's a good idea to use the correct punctuation.

adriana

My partner,Juana a 34 yeard old  woman who lives with husband and kids ,works at meurice gartmen care at the pakin and bagin area  and  she speaks spanish the languaje of her country

Adriana,

The grammar is correct. You remembered to put "s" at the end of verbs in the 3rd person present tense (he, she and it). The only problem is spelling. You can check by "ABC" on the menu above (on the right side) or use a dictionary. Also, again, "Spanish" should begin with a capital "S."

Juana

My partner,Adriana,a 37year old single woman who lives with her family works as a Meurice lineng dpt.and speaks spanish, the language of this Country,Mexico, which is on the continent of America, and of her hometown,D.F.

Juana, this is fine. The name of Adriana's job isn't clear, though. "Meurice lineng dpt." Is it Macy's linen department?

"Spanish" should begin with a capital "S" because it's the name of a language.

Her hometown, D.F., should be spelled for people who don't know what D.F. is.

The grammar is correct. Sentence structure is perfect.

Sandra Andrade

My partner Esau, a 27 year old  single man, he lives alone, he works as delivery in Colombia restaurant and speak Spanish the language of his country Colombia which  is on the South America continent, his hometown is Medellin, which has a population two millions. He has been in New York for three years

Sandra, this is good- and almost finished. It is almost completely correct. You could write it as several separate sentences, like this:

My partner Esau is a 27 year old  single man. He lives alone. He works as delivery man in a Colombian restaurant and speaks Spanish, the language of his country, Colombia, which  is on the South America continent. His hometown is Medellin, which has a population two million. He has been in New York for three years.

Or you could write it as two sentences one long sentence and one short sentence at the end, like this:

My partner Esau, a 27 year old  single man who lives alone and works as delivery man in a Colombian restaurant, speaks Spanish, the language of his country, Colombia, which  is on the South America continent and of his hometown, Medellin, which has a population two million. He has been in New York for three years.

Jose

My partner, Amadeusz,a20 years old single man who lives with his family works as a plomber and speaks Polish , the language of his country, Poland, his hometown name is Sedziczow , which is on the continent of Europe,

Jose, this is a good start. We didn't have time to finish, but you were able to use the blog for the first time. There are a few minor errors. The correction would look like this:

My partner, Amadeusz, a 20 year old single man who lives with his family, works as a plumber and speaks Polish , the language of his country, Poland, which is on the continent of Europe, and of his hometown, which is named Sedziczow.

My partner, Sandra, a 36 year old marriage women who lives with her family and work as baby sister and speaks Spanish, the language of her country, Ecuador, which is on the continent of America, and of her hometown, Quito, which has a population of two million, she has been in New york for 6 months and feels a little sad because here.

Esau, this is good, but let me recommend a few changes.

1. "Women" is plural. The singular is "woman."

2. When you write or talk about "he, she or it" in the present tense, there should be "s" at the end of the verbs ("works" is correct. You only missed that one. All the others are okay).

3. "baby sister" is incorrect. The name of the job is "babysitter." It's easy to confuse the two.

4. There should be a period (,) after "million" and "she" should have a capital "S" to start a new sentence ("...million. She has been...")

5. I think the last sentence isn't complete. We didn't have enough time to finish it.

All in all, good work.

Taher

My partner,Sonia a 33 year old single woman who lives with roommate and works as a barmaid and speaks Spanish the language of her country,Colombia, which is on south America and of her hometown Cali which has a population of one million. She has been in  New York for  six months and feels happy here.

Taher, this is good.

I see only two errors.

1. The preposition before South America is "in."

2. "Cali" should be between commas  ("hometown, Cali, which has a ..").

One more:  South America is the name of a continent,  soboth South and America should begin with a capital letter.

I found another:  There should be an article ("a") before "roommate ("lives with a roommate") is correct.

Sonia

My partner, Taher, a 40 year old married man who lives with his family, works  as  a Store Seller and speaks Banglaid, the language of his country, Banglades, which is on the continent of Asia, and of his hometown, Daka, which has a population of one million. He has been in New York for six months and feels happy here.

Nice work, Sonia.

Let me make a few suggestions

1. The name of a job should not have capital letters ("store seller" is corrrect; "store salesperson" is also correct.

2. Check spelling (with A,B,C in the menu above). The language is "Bengali" and the country is "Bangladesh." The spelling of the capital is Dhaka.

Your verbs are all correct. That's great.

belen

my partner, Anna,  a 44 years old married woman who lives with her husband, works as babysitter and speak polish the lenguage  of her country, Poland

Belen,

This is a fine introduction to your partner, Anna. I would make a few recommendations.

1. there is no "s" after "year" in "a 44 year old married woman."

2. Remember, when you write about "he, she or it" in the present tense, use "s" after verbs ("speaks" is correct)

3. Polish and other languages should begin with a capital letter

4. Check spelling with A,B,C on the menu above.

5. The first letter of a sentence should be a capital letter ("My") in this case.

Saturday, January 18, 2014

My partner, Myriam, a 47 year old married woman who lives with her husband and son works as a assistant teacher and speak Spanish and Chinese, the language of the country, pure, which is on of the continent of America, and of his hometown, Lima, which has a population of two million, She has been in New York for 18 years and feels happy here.

This is fine.  Errors are few.

1. In the third person singular ("he, she it") present tense, there has to be an "s' at the end of verbs. I think you know that. You put the "s" after all the verbs except one. You can find it.

2. Check spelling. The name of the country is Peru."

3. The article "a" comes before words that begin with a consonant ("b, c, d, f, g, h (with exceptions, like "hour," when "h" isn't pronounced as a consonant), j, k, l, m, n, p, r, s, t, v, w, y, z), but the correct article is "an" before vowels (a, i, e, o, u). so  the correct phrase is "an assistant teacher."

4. You mistook "her" for "his" once.

5. You should have used only one (not two) prepositions: "..which is on the continent of.." is correct.

6. There should be a period (.) not a comma (," at the end of a sentence. "....two million. She has been.." is correct.

ESTEFANIA

My partner, Cristina, a 55 year old married woman who lives with her husband and her son works as a babysitter, and speaks Spanish, the language of her country, Paraguay, which is on the continent of America, and her hometown, Asuncion, which has a population of one million. She has been in New York for 15 years and feels happy here.

Estefania, this is fine.

I found just one error. I think you can find it too. It is at the end. Because this is "3rd person singular present tense," the verbs need to end with "S." Only one does not. It is near the end.

Myriam

My partner, Rouf , a 30 year old single man who lives alone works as a citywork and speaks Bengaly, the language of his country, Bangladesh, which is on the continent of Asia, and in his hometown,Daka, which has a population of one million. He has been in New York for 7 years and feels happy here

Myriam,

This is mostly correct. I see a few minor problems.

1. "a citywork" should be "a city worker."

2. You should check the spelling ("A, B, C" menu above), and if you can't find it there try "google." The spelling of the language of Bangladesh is "Bengali," and the spelling of the capital is Dhaka."

3. Be careful of spacing commas (,). There should be no space before a comma and one space after it.

Incorrect: "hometown,Dhaka."

Incorrect: "hometown ,Dhaka"

Incorrect: "hometown , Dhaka"

Correct:  "hometown, Dhaka."

That's a small thing but you should start making a habit of correct pronunciation now. It will help you in the future.

Sonia

My partner, Taher, a 40 year old married man who lives with his family, works  as  a Store Seller and speaks Banglaid, the language of his country, Banglades, which is on the continent of Asia, and of his hometown, Daka, which has a population of one million.
