"Returning to Seventeen"

by Violeta Parra

Returning to seventeen
After a century of living
Is like deciphering signs
without wisdom or competence,
to be all of a sudden
as fragile as a second,
to find a deep feeling
like a child in front of God,
that is what I feel
in this fecund instant.

Entangling, entangling it moves,
like the ivy on the wall,
and so it flowers, and it grows,
like tiny moss on the stone.
Oh yes oh yes

My steps is backward
while yours keep advancing,
the arch of alliances
has penetrated my nest,
with all of its wide palette
it has walked through my veins
and even the hard chains
with which destiny chains us
is like a fine diamond
that lightens my serene soul.

What feelings can grasp
knowledge cannot understand,
not even the clearest move
not even the widest thought,
the moment changes everything
the condescending magician,
separates us sweetly
from rancor and violence,
only love with its science
makes us innocent.

Love is a whirlwind
of original purity,
even the fierce animal
whispers its sweet trill,
stops the pilgrims,
and liberates the prisoners,
love with its best efforts
turns the old into a child
and only affection
can turn the bad pure and sincere.

The fully open window
opened by pure enchantment
love entered with its blanket
like a lukewarm morning,
the melody of its beautiful Diana
prompted the flowering of jasmine,
flying like a seraphim
placed earrings in the sky
and my years in seventeen
cherub did convert.

The population of Colombia is 45,239,079, and that of the capital city, Bogota, is 8,262,000. The language of Colombia is Spanish. Also, the ethnicity of the country is mostly mestizo.

Colombia was conquered by Spain. After many years, it was liberated by Simon Bolivar.

What's more, the agricultural products are bananas, coffee and flowers.

Colombia not only has a high unemployment rate of 40% (Are you sure that's accurate? It seems too high), but it also has a low GDP of 1.2 million (I think that's much too low. The GDP must be many billion).

from Martha, Katty, Daniel and Leydy

The Dominican Republic has a population of 10,088,598, and the capital city, Santo Domingo, has a population of 2,138,000. Also, it has an infant mortality rate of 21.3/1,000. In addition, the average life expectancy is (for example, 77.7 years for men and 79 years for women). What's more, in 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the Dominican Republic. It is the first place he saw. In conclusion, that's why the people in the country speak Spanish.

A summary about the article "Behavior in Japan and the U.S." should include the main ideas of the
paragraphs and details.

- The main difference between Japan and the United States (what is it, according to Masami?)

-A concrete example of the difference (clothing; give the example of the old woman)

-An abstract example of the difference (age: give the example of the woman who married unwillingly)

-Personal experience (tell what happened in the movie theater and how Masami felt about it)

-Reasons for the differences (explain about the melting pot, and tell Masami's conclusion)

Original:

Masami was living in New York and she thought Americans people are individualistic thant
Japanese people because she has lived different experiences in both countries. She saw different
behavior from each person and their freedom forms to wear. Almost, she was surprised because
she compared old woman's between two countries. She remembered when she was walking on
the street in New York and she saw an old lady was wearing red lipstick. Finally, she understood
that the two countries are different because its has many cultures and different ideas.

American's and Japanese have difference of feature. We can see in every aspect of our
life. American some elderly ladies dressed freely but Japanese old lady dressed similar.
In New York here are many examples about age. A person when came here have scarcely
of my age. The people think about age.
The woman when remains single beyond that age people said usually old maid. Because the people
don't married. Some different idea, different customs. American strongly describe their opinions, but
Japanese speak with consideration of others feelings. The american people is individualism, each
one think about themselves, don't care the other people. America is a big country, there are people
from many countries, however Japan is a small country. In America the people is autonomous but in
Japan no because the circumstances are different.
