Lima and New York

New York is a city bigger than Lima, and has trains that are fast, people don have many problems to go from one city to another. Lima does not have trains as fast as New York that people take much time commuting to get to work using only buses.
In New York people who have a high level of education have more opportunities to get a job and earn more money than people who live in Lima. In Lima People with master degree are not earn as much as People in New York. That is the reason because many people arrive to New York looking for better opportunities to improve professionally and economically.
Even though, New York and Lima are very different, these two cities are visited for many people from different countries. Lima is attracted by tourist to visit historical places and New York is attracted by people dedicated to financial activities.

"About The Hilton High School" by Lady Palma

There were a lot of foreign students whose were going to he Hilton high school in suburban Virginia. They came from different countries like Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Pakistan, China, etc. The school had ESOL Program. The director of the school said: "They are inmigrants, they are here, so they need to be tought.

ESOL Program is more difficult at the begging, but it is gettin easy. It has advantages and disadvantages. Advantages are learning new information about new languages, culture and history. Their teachers try to teach as much as their can.
Disadvantages are: it is hard to understand new vocabulary because they can take more class about ESOL.

Chinese teacher in U.S.

Hi Kevin,

This is Daphne. Please try to correct my grammar/words if you are free to read this, because I didnt use dictionary/translation this time, thanks alot;)

After I read the post in NY Times, I want to talk about my view.I am not totally agree with her. I was born in Hong Kong.Hong Kong is part of China. But I can say HK and China are kind of different, no matter education or life.
She said that "In China, they study and study and study, they dont have a lot of activities to do after classes like Amercian students. I think it's not really true, because China is getting progress than before. It changed. But likes pregnancy problems, she is true. It's rare to see teenagers got pregnant. If you get pregnant in China or HK under 16. The man who did it with you that he would get in jail.
And I admitted it, a lot of amercian or western were misunderstanding Chinese people. They thought Chinese people are mean, greedy,selfish,dirty...etc. It was just part of peoples. Like Hong Kongers, we read the news and it was saying some chinese people was doing bad business for earning more money. We hated it.They are embarrassing Chinese and get a bad impress of China.I think she is doing hard to want to change the students's mind here. She wants to let all the American knows the real Chinese culture and involved all the misunderstand from China. Although I think it is pretty tough for her. But,I feel happy for her,and I believe that she would love here. She is still young, she can earns more experience, learns or realizes the Amercian culture through teaching class in U.S.It's good for her. Even this job is difficult, but I believe that she would earns more than lose.

ESOL is English for speakers of other language, where students who don't speak English are separeted from English speaking students.
This programs has one goal. The goal is for help all the ESOL students pass the exam for graduation. The program is good in helping ESOL students but it separeted the students speak English and ones don't.
According to Amalia this programs have advantage and desadvantage of ESOL classes. One of the advantage is the teachers try to explain averything as much possible. One disadvantage is that almost all her classes are ESOL,so she doesn't get a chance to practice English with students from the regular classes.
Amalia hopes to became a doctor one day but the language barrier makes it hard, so her goal is to learn English first.

more on the oil spill

American President Barack Obama has said the oil giant British Petroleum (BP) is responsible for paying for cleaning up the huge oil spill off America’s southern coast. The oil slick is now the size of Jamaica and has started washing up on beaches in Louisiana. Obama told reporters that BP "is ultimately responsible under the law for paying the costs of response and cleanup operations". US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano echoed her boss’ words. She called on BP to take urgent action to send resources to tackle the disaster. BP’s CEO Tony Hayward is in the area to personally direct the emergency mop-up and damage limitation exercise. President Obama has also visited the area.

The catastrophe began last week when a BP offshore oil rig exploded and sank in the Gulf of Mexico. As much as 5,000 barrels of oil a day are now pouring into the sea. Experts believe it is on its way to becoming the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Even worse then the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster. The spill could cause enormous environmental and economic damage to the southern U.S. states. Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi have all called a state of emergency. One of the biggest problems is the difficulty of cleaning up the oil. The affected coastline is full of wetlands that are difficult to reach by boat. Hundreds of different species are under threat including very rare bird and marine life.
